My NFT Collection

Once my first design was ready, it was time now to show people how to be creative and use their imagination to customize the 3D printed jewelry. Hence a need for creating some artwork that will demonstrate how fillers can be used to personalize the jewelry. Converting those artworks to NFT was a natural progression.

M3D0001 Non-Fungible Token Art# 1

New to NFT? I thought so 🙂

Non-Fungible token as the name implies it cannot be duplicated. What does that really mean and what does it have to do with art?

Let me explain. Art is historically revered to be one of the most prized possessions of mankind and the older and rare it gets, the more valuable it is. People create artwork in the form of paintings and those paintings are then given away. At some point the artist becomes famous and the legacy of paintings he/she has left behind become popular and priceless.

In the 1950s, Albert Namatjira’s iconic watercolour artwork would often sell on the streets of Alice Springs for just a few shillings.

Paintings sell at auctions and when it’s bought it is expected to be the original artwork in its best glory. Or is it the case? Often people find that the artwork is a duplicate or was stolen, damaged and repaired which loses all its value. Not to mention the money lost is buying a fake painting. In the real world there are ways to determine the authenticity of a painting. You can call an expert in that field to check if the painting is real or fake, in most cases.

With the development of digital technology, more and more artists left their brushes behind to pick up a digital pen instead that could do all that and much more than their good old brush could. All of a sudden there is a slew of digital art floating around on the internet. This art too has value and it does get sold, but the problem here is how do you determine that the digital art you have purchased is the actual art and not a copy of the original because creating a copy is well just (Copy + Paste). Anyone can go online and create a duplicate copy of digital art and sell it as his own.

To overcome this problem, NFT was invented. What it does is attach a unique signature to the digital artwork and that signature is owned by one and only one entity. In technical terms the signature is linked to one unique address on the blockchain that gets listed in an open ledger that anyone can see. This ledger entry gives all the details of the transaction, its date, price paid, blockchain and how many hands (addresses/wallets) it has changed, keeping the authenticity of the digital art intact. NFT can then also be associated with the actual physical piece of art as well.

So NFT allows you to own a piece of digital artwork just like you would in the physical world. The question here is how invested are you in the artwork and do you see that as a collectible item?

Obviously it takes time and a certain level or rarity for any art to become a collectible. There has to be a crowd following for that artwork or artist and the artwork you hold may not see the limelight until a few decades, but by then the prices of the artwork would have reached beyond limits and it would make you wonder, I should have bought it back then or held on to it a bit longer!

So why should you buy M3D series NFT?

The artwork you see in these NFT’s is unique. What that means is each artwork has a combination of colors, gradients and layers that uniquely create a pattern in the artwork that does not match any other in the same design M3D0001.

There are 9200 artworks and each artwork has a unique identifier like Art# 00001. When you buy an NFT you are essentially buying ownership rights of this art number and later on down the track when this artwork becomes famous and in demand, the price of your NFT will rise. The number of artwork created remains fixed and will not be created again for the same design, which ensures that if you own one of these artworks, there cannot be a duplicate in the market. In addition to it when you purchase this NFT, it has a hidden file that contains full size artwork and it can only be accessed by the owner of the artwork. So even if you see duplicate copies floating around on the internet, they won’t have the associated NFT address and full size file that only you will have as an owner.
